Visiting Tips

Peyrelevade is a short drive away from the Dordogne River and some of the most beautiful and remarkable parts of France. Understandably, the green Michelin Guide gives this part of the Dordogne Valley a “three stars” ranking, top marks for the river, the countryside and extraordinary caves with their mysterious, ancient formations.

Beynac, La Roque Gageac, and Domme are all about half an hour from Peyrelevade and are well worth exploring. A further quarter of an hour away are Sarlat-la-Canéda and Les Eyzies. You will probably want to make more than one visit to the delightful bastide towns of Villefranche-du-Périgord (just a few minutes away) and Monpazier.

As well as visiting caves, the local area offers golf, fishing, tennis and riding. Canoeing, of course, is available everywhere along the River Dordogne and the River Lot. If you like châteaux, there are several nearby, including the charming Bonaguil and the stunning Biron.
